We are Story Tellers!
When it comes to capturing every special moment in your life, we really have to thank the advanced technology of cameras. How often do you go back into your photo album and just reminisce about the laughter, the love, the extreme embarrassment of each moment captured? For me, it is often – probably more than I would like to admit. Fast forward a milli-second you may find yourself capturing another candid moment, randomly, off key, unprovoked, and just because. String all these moments together and you get photo-journalism.
When it comes to weddings, I am often asked about candid photography & videography, and although this is part of the photo-journalistic world, the terms are not interchangeable. Candid photos & videos are natural events caught in the moment – generally without the subject’s knowledge of the photographer or videographer's presence and the image displays the feeling of that moment. In candid photography & videography each image is a moment but usually just a glimpse of that one moment, not a full story. The term photo-journalism is generally used in the newsroom and most people think of TIME Magazine when you picture this term. In our wedding world, photo-journalism is a series of candid pictures & video clips displaying the feelings of each moment strung together to tell a full story!
Each photo & video clip represents a feeling, a series of photos & video clips represent a story and when you look back on them the flood gate of emotions open and you remember; the smell of air, the laughter of the crowd, the sound of the waves, that undeniable feeling... It takes you back to that moment in time.
